Our Story
Kalimera Greek Bakery & Cafe began in Spring 2025 with a simple idea: to bring the everyday flavours of Greece to the heart of Newcastle. From traditional savoury pies and freshly made desserts to authentic Greek coffee, we wanted to create a place where people could enjoy the tastes many of us grew up with, right here in the city.
As the first Greek bakery of its kind in Newcastle, we were proud to introduce something new to the local community. Since opening our doors, we have welcomed thousands of customers, and we are especially grateful that so many have become familiar faces and regular visitors.
In Spring 2026, we opened our second location in the heart of Newcastle City Centre, allowing us to share Kalimera with even more people.
Our journey continues as we introduce new products, seasonal favourites and more traditional Greek flavours. Whether you visit us for a morning coffee, a savoury pie, a sweet treat or lunch, our aim is to offer a warm welcome and a little taste of Greece every day.

New Daily Lunch Specials – Launching 1st October 2026
From 1st October 2026, we’re bringing even more of the flavours of Greece to Kalimera with our new daily lunch specials, available at both our Gosforth and Newcastle City Centre locations from 10:30am.
Our lunch menu will feature a changing selection of comforting, home-style Greek dishes, including favourites such as moussaka, yemista, chicken with rice, meatballs in rich tomato sauce and much more. With different dishes available throughout the week, there will always be something new to discover and enjoy.
Whether you’re joining us for a relaxed lunch, grabbing something on your break or looking for a hearty meal on the go, our daily specials are made to bring you the warmth and flavour of traditional Greek cooking.
And for our student customers, your 15% student discount will still apply, making it even easier to enjoy a delicious Greek lunch at Kalimera.
